PURUSOTTOMPUR (Ganjam): An alleged custodial death in Purusottampur has sparked off tension in the area. One Pramod Sahu (40) of Purusottampur was being interrogated by the Purusottampur police for the last two days in connection with a money-lending dispute. Source said, on Wednesday he was brought to Purusottampur hospital in a serious condition where he died after sometime.



To avoid any untoward incident, Police deployed adequate police with tight security said Asish Singh, S.P., Ganjam. On the other hand, with tight security the autopsy was conducted and the body taken to Purusottampur.



Amitabh Thakur ,D.I.G.(S.R),said the victim was never arrested rather both the parties, he and the three persons against whom his wife has filed a complaint, were coming to police station for settlement of a money lending case still police have registered a case in this connection.



The autopsy was conducted at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here around 9.30 pm. While locals allege it to be a custodial death, Purusottampur IIC, RP Sahu said Pramod was being called to the police station for questioning but allowed to go home after proper interrogation. Today also Pramod left for home after some questioning at the police station. His wife, on the other hand alleged in a written complaint that three persons had attacked Pramod. The Purusottampur hospital authorities are mum over the entire episode of admission or treatment of Pramod.
